Joys of June: Lake Life, Laughter & a Splash of Real Estate

June brought the summer heat--and we didn’t waste a minute of it. From showing homes and wakeboarding on Lake Norman to brewery stops, sunset views, and even a quick detour to Ohio to visit family, we made the most of every moment both near and (a little) far from home.
Sunrises & Sunsets
This month delivered some truly gorgeous golden hours. Whether it was the stillness of early morning or the glow of a Lake Norman sunset, we never get tired of these views.
A Quick Splash from "Active" to "Under Contract!"
We helped friends list their home at 131 Canopy Court in Mooresville and within just a few days it made waves--drawing in multiple showings and landing under contract faster than you can say "cannonball." It's such a peaceful little retreat located minutes from Downtown Mooresville and across the street from Mooresville Golf Club (and, one of our favorite restaurants, On the Nines Bistro). We had a splash making the video too--check it out:
Beer + Golf = Entertainment

Perched up on the cliff above the 18th hole at The 500 Club in Statesville, we sipped our cold beers, soaked in the view and provided unsolicited (but clearly appreciated) commentary as golfers finished their rounds. Golf might be a quiet sport… but we’re not!
Dockside Daydream, Framed & Ready

Dana’s latest painting, “Dockside Daydream,” is now beautifully framed and officially for sale--ready to bring some Lake Norman vibes into its next happy home. Inspired by a sailboat docked at what we call “The Trifecta”--a dreamy little spot where one cove meets three of our favorite walkable hangouts: North Harbor Club, Lake Norman Wine Cottage, and The Cabin. This piece is all about the slow, sun-soaked moments that make Lake Norman feel like home. Check it out at Dana Pape Fine Art or message us!

Ohio Road Trip & a New Furry Face
We made a quick trip to Ohio to visit family, meet the newest (and furriest) member of the crew, and squeeze in a little hometown nostalgia. Chris took Dana to the site of old Crosley Field near downtown Cincinnati (now just a few plaques in an industrial lot), but still a must-see for any Reds fan. We also explored the stunning Cincinnati Union Terminal, because who can resist Art Deco and air conditioning?!

Beers & “Huzzah!” at Jolly Roger
We cooled down with cold pints at Jolly Roger Brewery--a pirate-themed, military veteran-owned gem in Lake Norman. Dana’s favorite? The raspberry wheat called, Huzzah!
Wildlife Walks with Norman
Mountain Creek Park in Sherrills Ford continues to impress. This month’s trail discoveries: turtles, katydids, thumbnail-sized frogs and this absolute showstopper: an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail caterpillar doing its best "snake eye" impression with giant fake eyes. Nature is so awesome!
Wakeboarding Tryouts for Team Papemore
Chris is clearly training for the next Summer Olympics (wakeboard division). Let’s just say his Lake Norman moves were bold, splashy, and almost upright.

June reminded us why we chose this life--and this lake. From real estate wins to raspberry wheat beers, wakeboarding to wildlife, and family to fur-babies, we packed a lot into 30 days. Summer’s just getting started and we’re excited for more adventures!
👉 What’s your favorite way to soak up Lake Norman this time of year? Tell us--we might just add it to our July lineup.
